THE BADGE of BARLOK
By
Richard Hollingworth
When young Simon Hall finds a rather dirty looking badge in the loft of his family’s new house, he little knows that it is the start of a series of adventures that eventually see him travel by spaceship to a far distant planet.
There he finds a better world that shows what our own World could become in future. There are several amusing episodes back here on Earth when Simon starts to use the special powers he is given with the badge.
Born and raised in Stratford, East London and Dagenham, Richard Hollingworth has had a full and varied life. His 3½ years in the Navy towards the end of the war included the hair–raising experience of being blown up by mines twice in a quarter of an hour on HMS Ekins. Having survived that, he eventually became Managing Director of a heating company and spent his final years before retirement as a wine consultant. A keen sportsman, he has won medals for football, golf, tennis, snooker and billiards, including the Kent veterans snooker championship. He found time to win talent competitions for singing too, and competed on Radio Luxemburg as a comedian/singer. When well into his 70s, he performed a 1½ hour one man variety show in Rochester. He has also given talks on UFOs, a particular interest which gave him the idea for this book, one of four he has written ‘so far’. A father of three, grandfather of five and great grandfather of four, he now lives with his wife Betty in Gillingham, Kent.
